Castle Bay faucet manifests its high quality at every glance and touch, and this can be summed up in two words: stainless steel. To achieve superior products, it is necessary to make a fundamental change from chromed brass, traditionally used in this industry, to stainless steel. Castle Bay faucet is made of premium SUS 304 stainless steel, not brass.
Stainless Steel is a very green material that is completely recyclable and, with proper care, has a useful life expectancy that will span decades. Guaranteed to last a lifetime, stainless steel faucet is easy to clean, requires little maintenance and provides a hygienic surface with no pores or cracks to harbor dirt, grime or bacteria.
Most faucets purchased prior to 1997 were constructed of brass or chrome-plated brass, which contain up to 8 percent lead (the main metals in brass are copper and zinc). Water sitting for several hours or overnight in a brass faucet can leach lead from the brass faucet interior which may produce high lead levels in the first draw of drinking water.
To minimize this risk, the Safe Drinking Water Act requires faucet
manufacturers to use no more than 8 percent lead in brass faucets. Manufacturers
are working on techniques to further reduce the amount of lead in their brass.
Beginning January 2010, California State Law will require that ALL faucets be
replaced with "Lead-Free" compliant products.
Castle Bay stainless steel faucets are LEAD FREE.
